About this trip

We’ve been to Tanzania a few times and love it…Now we want to explore more of Africa!!

Embark on an unforgettable journey through the heart of Africa, where nature’s splendor and wildlife await your discovery. Your adventure begins in the lush landscapes of Nyungwe National Park, a verdant haven nestled in the southwest corner of Rwanda.

Nyungwe National Park: As you step into Nyungwe, you’ll be enveloped by a symphony of sounds – the gentle rustle of leaves, the melodious songs of birds, and the distant calls of primates. Your first stop: chimpanzee tracking. Guided by expert trackers, you’ll venture deep into the dense forests in search of these intelligent creatures. Traverse winding trails, crossing babbling streams and ancient trees, until suddenly, you catch sight of a chimpanzee swinging effortlessly through the canopy. Witness their playful antics and marvel at their human-like expressions as they go about their daily routines.

After an exhilarating chimpanzee encounter, set out on a guided nature walk through Nyungwe’s diverse ecosystems. From towering mahogany trees to delicate orchids, every step unveils a new wonder of the natural world. Keep your eyes peeled for colorful butterflies flitting among the foliage and elusive forest dwellers such as L’Hoest’s monkeys and golden monkeys.

Kivu at Lake Kivu: Next, journey to the tranquil shores of Lake Kivu and the picturesque town of Kibuye. Here, you’ll unwind amidst stunning views of Africa’s sixth-largest lake, its azure waters stretching as far as the eye can see. Embark on a scenic boat ride, gliding across the glistening surface while soaking in the breathtaking panorama of rolling hills and lush greenery that surrounds you.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest: Your adventure continues as you cross the border into neighboring Uganda, where the ancient and mystical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest beckons. Home to roughly half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas, this UNESCO World Heritage Site promises an encounter with one of nature’s most awe-inspiring creatures. Trek through dense undergrowth, guided by experienced trackers, as you navigate the rugged terrain in search of these majestic primates. Finally, as you come face to face with a gorilla family in their natural habitat, time seems to stand still, and you’re overcome with a profound sense of connection to these gentle giants.

City Tour of Kigali: Conclude your African odyssey with a visit to Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital city. Delve into the rich history and culture of this dynamic metropolis as you explore its bustling markets, poignant memorials, and modern landmarks. From the bustling streets of Kimironko Market to the solemn tranquility of the Kigali Genocide Memorial, each stop offers insight into Rwanda’s past, present, and future.

Throughout your journey, you’ll be accompanied by knowledgeable guides who share their passion for this remarkable region, enriching your experience with fascinating insights and unforgettable encounters. While conventions can vary from country to country, tipping is customary in Europe. A general rule is 10% of the bill for wait staff, and a smaller amount  for other service providers.

Tipping is an expected – though not compulsory – component of your tour program, and an expression of satisfaction with the persons who have assisted you on your tour. Although it may not be customary to you, it is of considerable significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels. There are several times during the trip where there is opportunity to tip the local guides.
